Recognition of Excellence Scheme

The Health Innovation Partnership offers a programme dedicated to supporting a recognition of clinical and academic excellence. This recognition leads to the awarding of the status of a ‘University Department’

The HIP established a framework of criteria against which excellence will be demonstrated, in our three core areas of Clinical/Operational Outcomes, Research/Innovation and Education/Staff Development. Each core area has been split into three domains and scoring will be made against the level of achievement in each domain.

Evidence should align with the trust’s values – Compassionate, Aspirational, Resourceful and Excellent and demonstrate how the department delivers care in line with the Trust’s strategic priorities and the clinical service strategy.

Benefits of the Award
  • Recognition as an NHS department that excels in clinical outcomes, research and education.
  • Fantastic celebratory exercise that brings the department together, for a single purpose and vision.
  • Certificate of Excellence presented formally by the Executive Board.
  • Title plaque for department
  • Use of the title designation on all correspondence
  • Uplifted access to HIP initiatives
  • An award of £5,000 will be given to support further initiatives to strengthen hospital/university collaboration
  • Award of half-funding for a three year PhD studentship (which can be match-funded).
  • The award will be reviewed every 3 years
