About our partnership

The University of Reading (UoR) and the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust (RBFT) partnership aims to transform the health and care of the pepople of Berkshire and beyond by bridging university and healthcare environments. By creating a learning environment that drives continuous improvement, we will create a step change that informs national best practice in healthcare and prevention.

Our Strategy

Our strategy focusses on two strategic priorities, through which we will achieve our mission; Research, Innovation & Impact and Education & Talent.

Our strategy is further supported by a cross cutting theme of advanced health data analytics, that underpins our strategic priorities.

We will work closely together to commercialise the outputs of our collaboration and to share elements of our infrastructure and estates, which contribute to the lasting sustainability of our Partnership.

Our strategy will be delivered through strategic goals and key initiatives through which we will develop a breadth of collaboration in focussed areas, leading to impactful research and education that benefits patients and informs clinical practice. This builds on the breadth of our collabotration development in the earlier stages of our Partnership and will accelerate deepening of the Partnership as it matures to replicate and extend our early success.

Our Programmes

Collaborative Innovation Funding (CIF)

In 2023, the CIF program enabled us to proudly champion over 50 projects, our projects aim to guide the future Healthcare and Academia. These initiatives have paved the way for a lasting legacy, resulting in expanded grants for ongoing research, notable publications, the nurturing of new student cohorts, and most importantly, an improvement in patient outcomes, to mention just a few of the remarkable achievements.

Recognition of Excellence Scheme (RoES)

Our RoES program recognises and honours outstanding departments for their excellence. Encouraging, promoting and to formally recognise RBFT departments that stand out in these core areas of clinical outcomes, teaching and education, and research.

Shared Strategic Partnership Vision

The Shared Strategic Partnership Vision enabled us to progress and establish the cutting-edge Clinical Simulation Training Suite. With work towards other projects ongoing.

Events

Throughout the year, we host events spotlighting joint accomplishments between the Trust and University.
